How does 3D Secure work?

3D Secure is an additional security layer for online credit and debit card transactions, aimed at preventing fraud. Here is how it works:

1. Integration with Retail Websites: 3D Secure integrates with retail websites that support Verified by Visa (VBV) or MasterCard SecureCode (MSC). When you make a purchase on such a site, you will be redirected to a 3D Secure page to authorise the transaction.
2. Authentication Process: During checkout, a new web page will open where you will be required to authenticate the transaction. This is typically done by entering a one-time password (OTP) sent to your mobile phone or by approving a push notification on your smartphone. This step ensures that the person making the transaction is the legitimate cardholder.
3. Automatic Enablement: As a myPOS user, 3D Secure is automatically enabled on your myPOS card. You do not need to register separately for this service. Depending on the card you use, you will be redirected either to a Verified by Visa page or a MasterCard SecureCode page to complete the authentication.
4. Enhanced Protection: This measure provides extra protection against online fraud by ensuring that only authorised transactions are processed. It adds an additional verification step, making it harder for unauthorised users to make purchases with your card.
