TWINT is the app almost every Swiss customer already has on their phone. Instead of tapping a card, they open TWINT, scan a QR code, and confirm — and the payment's done. myPOS now accepts it across our POS devices, and it's just landed on myPOS Glass too.
This is one of a few updates we've rolled out recently — alongside QR digital receipts and custom tip amounts.
Why does TWINT matter so much in Switzerland?
Ask any merchant in Zurich, Geneva or Lugano: customers don't just prefer TWINT, plenty of them expect it. It's less a payment trend and more of a national habit. Without it, you're not just missing a feature — you're occasionally watching a sale walk out the door because the customer's card wasn't the plan.
The good news: you don't need a second machine on the counter to fix that. TWINT now runs on the same device you're already using, card or Glass.
How does it work for my customers?
It's a genuinely quick flow — here's what your customer sees:
- You enter the amount and select TWINT.
- A QR code pops up — on your terminal, or your phone if you're on Glass.
- They scan it, confirm in their TWINT app, and that's it.
- You get the result on screen instantly — same as any card tap.
Second thoughts happen — if the code times out or the customer changes their mind, just cancel and start again. Nothing's lost.
Backed by a network the whole country already trusts
TWINT isn't a startup wallet hoping to catch on — it's Switzerland's own payment network, used daily by millions of people. When you accept it, you're not asking customers to try something new. You're meeting them exactly where they already are.
Why it's worth having
One device instead of two means less to carry, less to charge overnight, and one less thing to reconcile at closing. Every TWINT sale lands in MP Office right next to your card transactions, so nothing needs a separate spreadsheet or a second login.
Do I need to set anything up?
Nothing to install, nothing to configure. TWINT is switched on for your account by myPOS. The one box to tick: your payout currency needs to be CHF. If it isn't yet, a quick message to our support team sorts that out.
Is TWINT available for my business?
TWINT is available to myPOS merchants in Switzerland, on supported POS devices and on Glass — Android for now, with iOS on the way. One practical note: your device needs to stay online during the payment, since TWINT doesn't work offline.
