Pre-authorization is a valuable feature provided by myPOS that allows businesses to temporarily hold a specific amount on a customer's credit card, ensuring payment security and validity. This functionality is particularly useful for businesses such as hotels, motels, car rentals, and more.

This guide covers the basic steps and procedures for initiating and managing pre-authorizations using myPOS devices.
To initiate a pre-authorization, navigate to the Pre-Authorization menu on your myPOS device.
Enter the amount to be held and proceed by following the on-screen instructions to insert or touch the card.
Completing or Cancelling Pre-authorization:
Pre-authorizations can be completed or cancelled from the Pre-Authorization menu by entering the pre-authorization code provided during the initial hold.
Eligibility:
Pre-authorization functionality is available predominantly for businesses such as hotels, car rentals, and cruise lines. Requests for this feature can be sent to help@mypos.com for assessment.
Fraud Prevention:
Pre-authorizations are more susceptible to fraud compared to regular payments. Businesses must ensure they follow secure practices when handling pre-authorizations.
