How long a transfer takes, and how to check its status

How long a transfer takes depends on the type and, for transfers to other banks, on the receiving bank.

Transfer type Usual timeframe
To another myPOS account, or between your own myPOS accounts Instantly, or the same day
SEPA Instant Usually within 10 seconds
SEPA (standard) By the end of the next business day after we receive your order (weekends don't count). Sending after our daily cut-off adds a day — in practice, allow 2–3 business days.
Within the EEA, non-euro currency Up to 4 business days
International, outside the EEA Up to 5 business days, depending on the currency, country and banks involved
UK domestic in GBP (Faster Payments) Usually within seconds, and no later than the end of the next business day
Swiss Interbank Clearing (SIC) — Swiss account to Swiss account only Usually within seconds, and no later than the end of the next business day

A transfer can take longer if the beneficiary's details are incomplete, or if it needs a compliance check. International payments can also be slowed by intermediary banks along the way.

Checking a transfer's status

  • Website: Merchant Account > Payments > Pending payments for transfers in progress, or Merchant Account > Payments for completed ones.
  • Mobile app: More > Transfers, then the Not completed tab.
Status What it means Money left?

Pending Being processed — may be waiting on a cut-off time or a check. No
On hold Needs more information. We'll email you to say what we need. Reserved
Executed Sent to the receiving bank. Your account has been debited. Yes
Declined Not carried out. Any reserved amount returns to your available balance. No
Cancelled You cancelled it, or required information wasn't provided in time. No
Your account is debited when the transfer is executed, not when you order it. Until then, the amount is reserved and isn't available to spend

If a transfer is pending well beyond the expected timeframe, contact us at help@mypos.com with the transfer reference number.
