The Identity Verification is a short online identification process required for myPOS to confirm the merchant’s identity. This is in accordance with the EU Fourth Money Laundering Directive, which mandates that all financial institutions verify the identity of their clients before entering into a business relationship. myPOS is legally required to verify every client’s identity.
To streamline and simplify the process, myPOS has outlined the following steps:
1. Email Confirmation:
- An email is sent to the address provided during the registration for a myPOS account. Open the email and click the link to confirm your email address.
2. Mobile App Installation:
- Download and install the myPOS mobile app on your smartphone.
- If you don’t have a myPOS account yet, select “Sign up.” If you do, tap on “Log in” and enter your credentials.
3. Document Preparation:
- Prepare your official and valid government-issued passport or national ID card with a picture. Ensure you have the actual document, not a copy.
4. Self-identification Process:
- Make sure you are alone and have a reliable Wi-Fi or data connection.
- Start the online identification process through the myPOS app. You will be asked to choose your nationality and type of identity document. The app will request permission to access your geographical location.
5. Taking Photos:
- Align your document within the parameters on the screen, starting with the front and then the back. The phone will automatically take pictures of the document.
- Follow the instructions to take a photo of your face. Ensure all elements are clear and visible.
6. Video Identification (if the self-identification cannot be initiated):
- You may be connected to a myPOS agent for a video identification process. The agent will guide you through taking photos of your face and ID document.
- During the call, you will receive an SMS with a code. Read this code to the agent to complete the process.
- The agent will inform you if the identification was successful.
7. Company Verification:
- Following the identity verification, you will need to provide legal documents to verify your company’s identity. The required documents depend on the company's legal form.
- Additional documents might be required, and myPOS will notify you if more information is needed.
