What is Click to Pay?

Click to Pay is a faster, password-free way for your customers to pay online. Instead of manually entering card details every time, returning customers can complete checkout in just a few clicks using a Mastercard, Visa, or other supported card they've already saved with Click to Pay.

It works the same way across thousands of online stores, so your customers may already recognise the Click to Pay icon from other websites.

A bit of background

For years, online checkout has relied on customers typing out a 16-digit card number, expiry date and security code for every single purchase, often on a different website each time. This can be slow and easy to get wrong, a major reason customers abandon their cart partway through paying.

Click to Pay was created by the major card networks (Mastercard, Visa, and others) as a shared industry standard to solve this problem. Rather than each website building its own “save my card” feature, Click to Pay lets a customer save their card once with their card network, and then reuse it at any participating online store, including yours, without needing to re-enter details.

Do I need to set anything up?

No. Click to Pay is already enabled in your myPOS online checkout, there's nothing for you to install, configure, or turn on. If your business accepts online card payments through myPOS, your customers can already use it.

Is Click to Pay available for my business?

Click to Pay is available to all myPOS merchants.

How does it work for my customers?

At checkout, your customer will see the Click to Pay option alongside other payment methods.

Here's what happens next:

  • The customer selects Click to Pay and confirms their identity (for example, via a one-time code or their device).
  • Their saved card details are securely retrieved, no manual entry required.
  • The payment completes in just a few clicks.

First-time users can save their card during checkout, making future purchases faster wherever Click to Pay is available.

Why it matters for your business?

A shorter, more familiar checkout has a direct effect on whether a sale is completed. When customers recognise a payment option and trust it, they're less likely to hesitate or abandon their basket, and more likely to have their payment approved on the first attempt. Over time, this can mean fewer failed transactions and a smoother buying experience for your customers, without any changes required on your part.
