Declaring and Reporting Your New myPOS Account: A Step-by-Step Guide for Bulgarian Merchants

If you hold an account with a foreign financial institution, Bulgarian law requires that you declare it to the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) and periodically report the available balances.

This also applies to your new myPOS account in Ireland (myPOS Ltd.), which will be opened once the new Service Agreement with myPOS Ltd. comes into effect.

In short

  • You will receive a new account with an Irish (IE) IBAN.
  • Within 15 days, you must declare it to the BNB (Form SPB-2).
  • Every quarter, you must submit a report (Form SPB-5).
  • Submit them on time to avoid fines.
  • In the future, we’ll provide an automated way to save you time and effort.

Note:  You can find the SPB-2 and SPB-5 forms, along with instructions for filling them out, by opening this link:

or in the attached copies at the bottom of this article.

Declaring a newly opened account

Why is this necessary?

Bulgarian law requires all accounts of Bulgarian legal entities and sole traders that are opened abroad to be reported to the BNB. This is purely statistical information and is not related to taxes or fees.

In other words – you simply notify the state that you now have an account with myPOS Ltd. (Ireland).

What do you need to do?

Once your new account is active, you have 15 days to submit a declaration (Form SPB-2) to the BNB.

Attached at the bottom of this article, you’ll find the Form SPB-2 partially prefilled by us and the official BNB instructions for completing it. If you prefer a completely blank form, you can find it here.

Instructions on what you will need to complete yourself in Form SPB-2:

  • Section 1 “Data of the local entity – account holder” – enter your company details.
  • Section 2.6 “Date of account opening” – the date when your new myPOS account was opened. If you're not sure about the exact date, you can contact us via chat or by email at help@mypos.com, and a myPOS representative will check and provide this information for you.
  • Declarant details – your personal details as the person submitting the form.
  • Signature – complete and sign the declaration.
  • The other fields will be prefilled by us for your convenience.

How to submit the declaration?

After filling it in, you can submit the declaration in two ways:

  1. Online with a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) via the BNB Integrated Statistical Information System (ISIS) portal.
  2. On paper – in person at the BNB registry office or by post to:
Bulgarian National Bank, Statistics Directorate, 1 Knyaz Aleksandar I Square, Sofia 1000.

If you submit it on paper, you must prepare two identical originals. The BNB will return one stamped with a registration number within 5 days.
Keep this number safe, as you will need it later for the quarterly reporting.

Quarterly reporting for the account

After declaring your account, you must submit a quarterly report (Form SPB-5) for the myPOS account opened abroad. This form specifies the balances of all foreign accounts.

Here you can find the SPB-5 form along with the instructions for completing it, or you can find them attached at the bottom of this article. The instructions on how to complete the form are inside the form.

  • For myPOS accounts, interest is not applicable, so you don’t need to fill in this field.
  • If your account has multiple IBANs in different currencies (as with multi-currency myPOS accounts), you must report the total balance in the currency in which the account is registered (EUR).
  • Your myPOS Account shows this total wallet balance, which you can use.
  • In the report, the account is identified with the registration number stamped by the BNB on the declaration you submitted earlier.

Deadlines

  • Reports must be submitted by the 20th day of the month following the reported quarter.
  • For the last quarter of the year, the deadline is 25 January of the following year.
  • If your account is opened before the end of 2025, your first report will cover October–December 2025 and must be submitted by 25 January 2026.

Reports are submitted in the same way as the declaration – either online with QES or on paper.

Important to know

  • myPOS cannot currently submit the declaration or reports on your behalf.
  • Failure to submit them on time may lead to administrative fines.
  • We are working to make this process easier and more automated in the future.
