IRIS Payment Service – FAQs and Updates

  1. What is IRIS?
    IRIS is Greeceʼs national instant account-to-account payment service operated by DIAS. It
    allows customers to pay merchants instantly via their banking app, either by scanning a QR
    code or selecting IRIS at checkout.
  2. Does myPOS support IRIS payments today?
    Not yet. Weʼre actively working with our banking partners and technical teams to enable IRIS
    acceptance for all myPOS merchants in Greece.
  3. Why is myPOS adding IRIS?
    IRIS is becoming widely used by Greek consumers, and upcoming regulatory requirements will
    make IRIS acceptance mandatory for many businesses. Our goal is to ensure myPOS
    merchants can fully comply and capture all customer payment preferences.

Timeline & Availability

  1. When will IRIS be available on myPOS?
    Weʼre in the final stage of integration and certification with our banking partners. Although we
    canʼt share an exact launch date yet, the rollout is planned for soon, and merchants will be
    notified well in advance.
  2. Will IRIS be enabled automatically for all merchants?
    In most cases, yes. myPOS aims to activate IRIS as a standard payment method for eligible
    merchants. If any additional verification is needed, weʼll reach out directly.
  3. Why is it taking time to enable IRIS?
    IRIS requires coordination with Greek banks, settlement partners, and DIAS to ensure full
    compliance, security, and instant settlement. Weʼre completing all the required testing so that
    the service is stable and simple for merchants from day one.

Merchant Requirements & Eligibility

  1. Do merchants need to provide additional documents?
    For most merchants, no additional documentation is expected. If your business type requires
    extra verification for instant payments, weʼll contact you directly.
  2. Do I need a Greek bank account to accept IRIS payments?
    No. Settlement of IRIS transactions is carried out automatically into the merchantʼs
    myPOS account by myPOS.

How IRIS Will Work on myPOS Devices & Online

  1. How will IRIS work on myPOS terminals?
    Customers will be able to scan a QR code displayed on the terminal to complete the IRIS
    payment instantly using their bank app.
  2. Will IRIS work for online stores using myPOS?
    Yes. IRIS will be available as a new payment option in myPOS Checkout. Customers will be
    redirected to their online banking app to complete the payment instantly.
  3. Are the payments instant?
    Yes. Funds are transferred instantly, 24/7. Settlement to your merchant account is also
    immediate.
  4. Will IRIS payments have fees?
    A small acquiring fee may apply. We will provide full pricing details before the service launches.
